The issue is that macOS fails to create/locate the App Group container for the app. The TeamIdentifier shows as "not set" (ad-hoc signature), and the container in ~/Library/Group Containers/ is never created by the system.
Workaround that works: manually create the Group Container with correct permissions with
mkdir -p ~/Library/Group\ Containers/S8EX82NJP6.com.macpaw.CleanMyMac-setapp
chmod 700 ~/Library/Group\ Containers/S8EX82NJP6.com.macpaw.CleanMyMac-setapp
